TIL: If you take the value of your Rema 1000 (a Norwegian grocery store) account number from the EAN-13 barcode in their shopping app and just re-encode it as QR, the scanners in store will handle this. 😉

Oh and if you wonder why I would put this on my watch when I already have it on my phone:

• I do not always carry my phone with me
• One less reason to get it out of my pocket, even if I do have it

Their custom facing barcode scanners can be a bit finicky sometimes but I also suspect that a QR will give a more reliable scan (since QR contains more error correction), so this is possibly a better way to present your account number anyway. 🤷

I figured it might work as their scanners are QR capable. I knew this as they support scanning Vipps [a local payment app] QR codes (if you pair your account with Vipps).

And if you are wondering why I would do this, there are apps for my Garmin watch that can display barcodes but most of those require an online account, or they only support one or two barcode types. By re-encoding the Rema code as QR, that is one less app one the watch. 😉

@WilliamNB They do a pretty good job here with the roads and paths but you often hit places where snow or ice has melted and re-frozen to form an ice sheet. Again, it's doable (even on a uni) but I prefer studs to be sure.
