The question we should be asking is less how much expansion should we have? And more, is the current amount safe for the climate?
The question isnโt โhow muchโ expansion is ok.
Itโs whether current flight levels are already too high - for people and the planet.
Weโre bringing this question to Parliament on Jan 21.

Another major study adds to the evidence: road traffic isnโt just a source of air pollution, itโs one of the most toxic sources.
The science is clear. Reducing traffic isnโt optional anymore, itโs essential for cleaner air, healthier cities, and a liveable future.

A large SUV with private jet wings
A group of campaigners holding "Tax Private Jets" signs.
Did you know you pay more fuel tax on a single car journey than a billionaire does on a private jet flight?
Right now the gov is subsidising tax breaks, when they could be using that tax to generate billions for public services.
Help us change this: https://bit.ly/43NAeFN
Another runway means higher emissions, more flights, and little economic benefit.
Instead of doubling down on airport expansion, the UK should focus on sustainable transport and policies that genuinely grow the economy without destroying the climate.
Sustainable aviation fuels are sold as a climate solution.
But the truth is: theyโre costly, unscalable, and not ready for widespread use.
Instead of cutting emissions, they risk becoming a greenwashing excuse for dangerous airport expansion.

High public transport fares donโt just hit budgets.
They limit access to jobs, education & social connection, and push people into car dependency.
We already have the answers: investment in affordable, reliable public transport.
Let's get on with it.

The #Dieselgate trial is a stark reminder of a bigger issue: diesel vehicles are still damaging our health.
We need to get diesel off our streets, by electrifying high-mileage vehicles and cutting overall traffic.
This is about the future of us, our children, & our planet.

The gov's Jet Zero strategy relies on tech that doesn't exist yet. Unless they start to put constraints on flights there won't be the incentive for the sector to invest in that tech.
Jet Zero bets on future tech to solve aviation emissions โ but flights are growing now.
Without limits & penalties, thereโs no reason to invest in clean solutions. Tech isn't coming to save us. But action can.

Local oil isnโt a strategy. Itโs a distraction.
The governmentโs focus shouldnโt be on making fossil fuels last longer. It should be on moving faster toward a clean energy system.
More flights donโt mean a stronger economy.
The UKโs tourism spending deficit means that encouraging more flights actually sends money out of the country.
Far from damaging the economy, restricting flights would rebalance this, boosting growth where it matters: here.
The gov is very focused on economic growth and jobs. But we can't have a thriving economy unless we also tackle the climate crisis.
The government talks a lot about growth and jobs.
But hereโs the truth: there is no thriving economy on a broken planet.
We have to cut aviation emissions if we want sustainable growth.

Thanks to bold action like #ULEZ, London has finally hit legal limits on toxic NOโ!
This wouldn't have been possible if the Mayor of London didn't keep pushing to make it happen.
But, we're not done.
London isn't the only city in the UK. There's still more we can all do.

All the commercial airlines in the UK don't pay tax on the fuel they burn. That means a single driver pays more tax on one tank of fuel than every single airline in the UK.
Airlines pay zero tax on fuel, while emissions keep climbing. โ๏ธ
Without fair policies and real financial pressure, thereโs no incentive for the industry to cut pollution.
Itโs time to make polluters pay.

The Chancellor says airport expansion will grow the economy.
But hereโs the truth: business travel is flat, and more Brits fly out than tourists fly in.
So whoโs benefiting? Mostly wealthy frequent flyers.
Itโs time they paid for their pollution ๐ https://bit.ly/3FXQefR

Here's what people really think about airport expansion
Most people don't believe that airport expansion brings them any benefits.
Just one in five people believe that expanding airports will bring down the cost of living
People want the aviation industry to reduce its emissions
The public doesnโt want more airport expansion. They want clean air, stability, and safe communities.
Why is government ignoring public opinion โ and climate science โ to push through Gatwickโs second runway?

Electric SUV subsidies have MPs up in arms โ and itโs clear why.
Instead of helping the people who need it most, public money is going to oversized vehicles that cause more road danger & pollution.

Flying isnโt just a choiceโitโs a demand engineered. Billions are spent advertising flights, selling holidays, status, and identity.
Yet aviation is one of the most polluting, least regulated sectors.
So, why are we still being sold something the planet can't afford?
Traffic in Edinburgh is rising again โ and itโs not just Edinburgh. Across the UK, congestion and pollution are increasing. That's bad for everyone, whether you're a driver or not.
If we don't invest in affordable alternatives, we'll keep driving ourselves into crisis.

Kemi Badenoch says North Sea oil and gas is the answer to our problems, but the govโs own advisors disagree.
Inaction could cost 7% of GDP by 2050, taking down our economy & planet in one go.
