Right, I think itโs valid to dislike AI video due to various effects of AI on creative industries in general. But I think AI critics would be better off focusing on that, because the โAI looks like crapโ argument is quickly becoming obsolete.

Interestingly, DX9 on the X360 was another nice example of this. You could (mostly) just write straight DX9 code. But there was a bunch of lower level functionality layered underneath, that could selectively be used.

I think in theory thatโs the ideal solution. But itโs hard to fight the perception that D11on12 (or whatever) is a โsecond class citizenโ. Metal is nice because essentially both the high level and low level api coexist together.
