Much is said of Brando’s gonzo performance here (and rightfully so), but I think the real standout here is Kilmer. He just radiates this aura of both coolness and madness, it’s hard to take your eyes off him. They don’t make them like this anymore.

They’re both similar in the sense that they are soldiers out of their time. Both unable to see that their ways don’t work anymore. unlike xorneto, Coriolanus comes to this realization just in time and forges peace between nations. But at the cost of his life. I mean it is a tragedy after all.

Planet X is such a fascinating arc. Xorneto in this arc is like Coriolanus (the Shakespeare version) if he went through with sacking Rome instead of heading back to corioli to die a martyrs death. A pained comparison but I just read Coriolanus. And I couldn’t help but compare the two.
