Stagnant at $504 per week since 2019, the max benefit fell short of meeting the basic needs of families facing financial hardship for too long. The increase comes at a critical moment, as Republicans in Washington threaten mass firings of public servants in the wake of the government shutdown. (2/3)

Today, New York's maximum unemployment insurance benefit increase takes effect. Hopefully you will never have to use this benefit, but for those who do, the new maximum weekly benefit of $869 will better support unemployed workers struggling to make ends meet. (1/3)

Ripping up federal workers’ union contracts hurts everyone in our communities who rely on the critical services they provide. But we have a bipartisan bill to save their union rights.

Tell your senators: cosponsor the Protect America’s Workforce Act! act.aflcio.org/call_campaig...

Today as we pause to reflect, remember, and pay tribute to all those we lost and continue to lose because of the tragic events of 9/11; we must also remember our promise.

We promised to never forget.

That is why, as a Union Movement, we continue to fight to ensure our heroes, survivors, and their families receive the care and compensation they deserve.

We will never forget their sacrifice and
we will never give up the fight.
