BREAKING: In a reversal, all NOAA Research sites will now remain online with "no interruption in service," according to the agency. NOAA had previously moved to cancel the research division's cloud services contract.

I plotted every cancellation, with total dollar amount obligated on the y axis against Trump-over-Harris margin on x.

Clearly, there's a bias for more cancellations in Harris counties. But does this reflect true bias or simply more contracts/grants awarded to Harris counties?

DOGE/Musk preferentially cancelled grants and contracts to recipients in counties that voted for Harris in 2024.

Among cancellations with election data available, 92.9% and 86.1% cancelled grants and contracts went to Harris counties, representing 96.6% and 92.4% of total dollar amounts.

On Sunday, February 16th, I was fired from my Forest Service job. My dream job of being a Recreation Specialist in Alaska was crassly taken away from me by the Trump Organization. Yesterday, after 7 years of protecting wild spaces, I was told that "based on your performance, you have not demonstrated that your further employment at the Agency would be in the public interest." This couldn't be farther from the truth. I am a highly skilled, valued, and appreciated member of my team. My performance evaluations reflect this. I'm heartbroken, insulted, and furious. I was part of a 3-person crew tasked with managing, protecting, and stewarding 2.2 million acres of our most spectacular National Forest lands. If you've ever been to Prince William Sound, you know how special it is. I don't need to explain it to you. If you've never been, I am fearful that the place may soon change due to this attack on our workforce. Our team has always been deeply dedicated to protecting your right to a wild landscape. Every day, I went to work knowing that I was making our community, our public lands, and our country better through public service. Being a public servant and being on a team with the two most inspiring, hard-working, humorous, intelligent, and innovative people l've ever met has been an honor. I loved every day of it, and it was truly one of the greatest joys of my life.

We help maintain access to Forest Service cabins, providing annual maintenance to your favorite trails. We listen when you give us feedback on how the recreational experience in Prince William Sound can be improved. We help direct the flow of visitor use, recommending where commercial users should get permits. This protects your opportunities to find solitude and true silence in low-use areas of the Sound. We help connect you to the landscape. We want your kids to have that same experience. This list goes on and on and on. We care. We care a lot. Our management of this area is all very intentional, informed by decades of data and institutional knowledge. When I was fired, effective immediately, I was not given a chance to write a transition report to help continue these efforts. I keep searching for some logic in this, but there is none. There is nothing methodical about this this. If you haven't been paying attention to this sadistic gutting of our federal government, now is a smart time to tune in.

Yesterday I, along with many others, was terminated. Yesterday at 6:45pm, that email stopped my HEART.. my DEDICATION...my PASSION...my LIFE! I have worked 24 years in the NPS at 11 different National Park sites & 1 NPS Training Center (Mather). And now, to be FIRED, by an EMAIL of lies... Send at 6:45pm on a Friday night of a holiday weekend (on Valentines Day)... It's disrespectful to say the least! Disgusting! Demoralizing! Inhumane! I've always been in good standing & at least "fully successful" (but generally more). I just left my PERMANENT job to take a TERM job in a new series but within the NPS...so that supposedly put me into a "trial" period...which now means my 24 yr career is over

I'm angry... I'm sad... I'm shocked.. I'm overwhelmed... And on top of my emotions, I'm feeling for all of others who also lost their careers. WE DON'T DESERVE THIS! WE NEED HELP!
