if you value your mental health do NOT check the rumor mill. i went from pretty optimistic (3 rejections) to miserable (8 more inferred rejections based on shortlist numbers / letter requests)

being an astronomer is the only reason i feel like remaining alive so i REALLY NEED A JOB
