in the talmud there’s the story of the sheep that grazes others’ land. through negligence the owner causes harm without realizing. acts of tzedakah add goodness into the world to counterbalance these harms. small acts may feel insignificant but it’s a reminder to keep going and keep fighting.

the rabbi spoke tonight about the many injustices we commit by simply existing in modern society. he highlighted the genocide in gaza. by paying taxes we indirectly support it. by not speaking out we implicitly allow it. how do we atone for atrocities committed in the name of judaism?

i personally think the fourth amendment is good and we shouldn’t allow the military to be unleashed on american citizens to violate it. maybe that’s just me though idk
