these are all fixable problems! but they are systemic problems, not problems that we can fix by blaming individual parents and social media.

it's the cost of busses. GP surgeries in poor neighbourhoods closing. appointments being few and far between and inflexible. jobs not offering paid sick leave for childcare. systems not flexing for parents.

that's not a parenting failure. that's a policy failure. the NHS and its ability to give and administer preventative care has been cut to the bone by successive governments.

and that's all assuming the GP has appointments. Again, our GP gets us in quickly. that is extremely not the norm in most areas! What if I was calling to try and book the appointment, with an 8 week old, and I call at 8am and spend half an hour on hold and get told there's nothing for the next month

For us, that's fine.
For somebody working pay check to pay check- that's time off work. that's wasted childcare money. that's transport to and from the GP. that's an inflexible boss who won't allow the sudden time off request. more time for the sick child.

When I called to get my 3yr old his last round, they offered me an appt later that week. On a day that kiddo is normally in nursery, and I'm normally at work. So I changed my work schedule, picked him up early, got the jabs, then he got a fever so was home for two days because of nursery policy.

Consider me. I live in a very well resourced area and have gotten same-day GP appointments every time I've called in the last five years. I work part time and flexibly and partially from home. I have two toddlers who have all their jabs.
