Two full-time positions | Bioinformatician (m/f/d) + Applications Specialist (m/f/d) - Molecular Biology The Genome Facility at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Plön is seeking to fill two positions (full time) to support and expand our core facility services.

Two new positions are available at the MPI for Evolutionary Biology to support development of our genomics facility. Both stand to become permanent. Both offer a ton of opportunity to engage in a wide range of creative science.

Our new preprint by @nanamikubota.bsky.social shows that P. aeruginosa, and likely many other bacteria carrying filamentous prophages (like V. parahaemolyticus), risk being exploited by these phages in a runaway process that reduces fitness of both host and virus. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... 🧵

Yeah, we have a bunch of sequencing data - on the populations and individual isolates - but it became too complex to try and write a paper that allowed all to be included…I think this experiment will see me through to retirement…

Couldn’t agree more guys, some of the conclusions drawn in papers off the back of a database match or a blast search is deeply worrying, without full understanding of what genes are required for resistance (like the glycopeptide operon example from Willem!
