When I adopted my first cat, I learned what quiet, unconditional love feels like. The way they curl up on your lap without a word — just trust. That’s why this story hit me so hard. Another family’s best friend is fighting for her life, and they need us → gofund.me/915de80a #caturday #cats #cat

There’s a quiet revolution of British voters who have had enough of the over platforming of one party in a multi party democracy & want to see/hear ALL their parties covered in the broadcast media. Letters to broadcasters are increasing &so are signatures here petition.parliament.uk/petitions/71...

Wandered past the Theatre of Small Convenience in Malvern this afternoon and was delighted to find the door open! A quick look inside - it's amazing! Looking forward to seeing it open again after the restoration work.

I spoke to the AI avatar of a Leeds MP. How did it cope with my Yorkshire accent? Leeds MP Mark Sewards has launched a digital assistant, but the results of my chat show MPs’ aides have nowt to worry about

“Me neighbour’s lad’s blocked’t ginnel at’t back wi an old settee and he won’t do owt about it. If someone dun’t come for it, it’s going in’t road"
I also have a Northern accent and my heart sinks when i have to deal with voice recognition software.

That's interesting. Similar to 'chicken' then, which used to just mean the young birds.

Volume up.
How long has this same sound rung along this pasture, century after century after century? Two thousand years? Three? How old are the oldest European livestock bells? Iron Age? Bronze Age?

I only downloaded Sunstack for your writing and I get three or four notifications a day for stuff I'm not interested in. That's a minor annoyance - more important is their apparent tolerance of the far right which isn't something I'd want to support. I'd gladly follow you to another site.

Virtually every home had a chip pan on the stove when I was growing up (60-70s). Chip pan fires were frequent - there were public information films on what to do if the pan caught fire. We must have had chips several times a week. Not sure if type 2 diabetes was common then, I'd need to see the data

Yes, I'd think the baked and mashed potatoes are perhaps part of a more traditional meal at home. The Guardian uses 'chips' to make it relevant to British readers but it's a US study so they're fries really, and probably consumed as part of a fast food meal. Correlation, not causation and all that.

I'd say so. A proper victoria sponge is a real challenge, and plum jam filling sounds just the thing.

DuckDuckGo has introduced a new feature allowing users to filter out AI-generated images from search results, addressing growing concerns over synthetic content overwhelming authentic visuals online.
The filter can be activated through a dropdown in the Images tab, search settings, or by using a dedicated AI-free domain: noai.duckduckgo.com. The system relies on curated blocklists, including uBlockOrigin’s Huge AI Blocklist, to detect and suppress AI-generated imagery.
While not perfect, it significantly reduces synthetic content visibility. This move sets DuckDuckGo apart from competitors like Google and Bing by giving users direct control over their exposure to AI-generated material.

Flag Fen. The guy digging next to me, just a couple of feet away, found the wooden wheel which turned out to be the earliest wheel in Britain at the time. Really exciting, but I remember the beetle wing cases shining in the peat best, still iridescent after 3000 years.

I’d have said, I will slay all my footnotes but one, that my one favorite may feast & grow without competition for a full year, & kill all the newborn footnotes of next spring, too, and when my only footnote is grown twenty hands high I will ride it right into your chambers & see what you say to me

I'm sure the Guardian keep him on just to wind people up. They've had columnists like that before and eventually they gravitate to the DM or the Telegraph.

I've never seen this either! I love corvids. We have a lot of crows round here, and ravens too, in the hills. I would love to get them tame enough to come down for treats but the neighbours already complain about them so it's probably best they keep their distance

Sounds promising! I love the flowers. I'm growing three varieties this year, including Moonlight, which has white flowers and seems to be doing the best of all
Hope you get lots of beans
