People are already shipping Mizuchi with the Shrine Maiden from 100 years ago. Mostly due to the fact that when Mizuchi sees the shrine maiden, instead of becoming angry, she instead pulls one of the softest expressions she's had so far. More wistful than vengeful.

Now we have to add the problems of linguistic meaning, itself something nobody has really “solved.” The idea that we’re just a few more cycles away from computering this is so comical.

Humans don’t agree on what’s true or false and we don’t really have any good way to solve this problem! The scientific method is the closest we’ve gotten but its subject matter is limited and its results are themselves subject to endless debate and reconsideration.

It really astound me how many people also apparently believe this problem is on the verge of being solved. “Basically now that the computer can make grammatically correct sentences, we just need to teach the computer how to tell what’s true or false.” Good thing that’s a solved problem. OH WAIT.

I do genuinely wonder how many people think what happened with Wikipedia is that “society accepted it” rather than that they put a ton of work into making it reliable, something that is not going to make AI reliable because no technology to actually understand meaning has been or can be invented.
