I walked into this movie knowing nothing about Petzold or much of anything about the movie other than that Vertigo was referenced in a review. walked out of the theater in a stunned daze and watched three Petzold films in the next month. one of the greatest endings in the history of the medium.

I don't think your numbers contradict mine. You went straight to calculating the number of natural cycles. If you multiply your number by 24 you should get the expected number of total cycles, order unimportant.

For games with exactly four home runs that meet the cycle requirements, we would expect them in the right order 1 in 24 times (1/4 * 1/3 * 1/2 * 1/1), so roughly 4.2% of the time. Games with more home runs will have more complicated odds, but I assume they will be correspondingly rarer.
