Hello! @adamsopko.bsky.social and I have been working on a proposal to charter an AALS Section on State Constitutional Law. We believe that such a section is long overdue and that it is urgent to foster scholarly community and support in a growing discipline. Links to support this effort below: ⬇️

They’re all in good standing! No big hand wringing conversations about who should be denied communion.

These are violent assaults an incarcerations of the faithful by the state & denial of access to sacraments. Arguably the most violent state assault on the RC Church in the modern US.

Crickets.

It’s a tremendous failure of leadership that US bishops openly talk about withholding the sacrament from Democratic elected officials for their abortion stances while JD Vance embraces Nazis and a significant chunk of the flock smash like buttons on ICE’s snuff content and there’s not a word spoken

I’m still dialing in the timing, grind settings, etc. There’s an app called Aeromatic that’s been useful.

I took it camping on a canoe trip with some scouts this summer where we were off grid and I just didn’t want to rely on instant (which tbh has gotten pretty great).

Concierto de Aranjuez: Adagio
YouTube video by Miles Davis - Topic Concierto de Aranjuez: Adagio

Jazz OTD: Miles Davis and Gil Evans's reimagining of the first movement of JoaquΓn Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" is an iconic moment in 20th-century music, stretching the boundaries of jazz contributions. They recorded it on November 20, 1959 for the landmark album "Sketches of Spain." #jazzsky

Mahmood Mamdani on Zohran, Uganda and forced expulsion: β€˜Who is part of the nation and who is not?’ After being expelled from his homeland in 1972, the academic has grappled with questions of political belonging – a major theme of his son’s mayoral campaign

I spoke to Mahmood Mamdani about his new book, his expulsion from Uganda, his son Zohran, and *that* NYT article.
