I'm running Deepseek r1:14b (ea35dfe18182), on Ollama, it's downloaded from the Ollama catalog. This "I cannot answer the question" response comes back in response to prompts about Taiwan. I included knowledge about another political event to show the LLM does understand some political history.

Sure, DeepSeek-R1 is impressive, but what happens when you ask it an obscure question? Should we be surprised it struggles with obscure knowledge?

The 14B and 8B models I downloaded from Ollama definitely censors in a really obvious way. Curiously the <thinking>...</thinking> block is empty when it censors.
