Take Me Home 36x40, Oil on wood panel Summer road trips are one of my favourite things about summer. Oh the things you'll see! Some natural, some constructed, some imagined. Enjoy it all! A major highway heads off to the horizon. Two lanes heading in each direction with a grass median between. Farmers' fields on the right, low industrial buildings and a water tower on the left. On top of the water tower is a grove of pine trees. The sky is brilliant orange and pink with a setting sun off to the left.

Four painted rocks. Each rock was painted to look like the cover of a popular children’s book. The book titles: The Monster at the end of this Book, The Rainbow Fish, The Cat in the Hat, and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

A single stem of a rugosa rose stands in the falling snow with several dried twigs, a few dry brown-green leaves, and a single dangling dry flower, mostly closed in classic rose shape. Upper edges of twigs, leaves and the flower hold piles of snow crystals and scattered drops of melt water. The background is mostly shadowed trees blurred into a smooth green-grey mass with a few subtle vertical light bands. The falling snow has been turned to subtle circles of light by the camera lens, varying in size and brightness. I've slightly tinted them orangey, violet and pinkish. The edges/corners have a white vignette effect applied.

A beautiful stained glass window in the chapel of the castle that was installed to mark the new millennium in the year 2000. Nicola Hopwood's design features the rock on which the castle stands, as well as the meandering River Wye. Three faces symbolise the three parish communities of Goodrich, Marstow and Welsh Bicknor. Down the centre a red ribbon features the phrase "upon this rock" from Matthew 16:18. I chose this image because of the design of the window and because of the way it casts multicoloured pools of light onto the walls and floor.

Today in #artadventcalendar, watercolor snowy trees.

Oval shaped fused glass pendant made of opalescent or non-transparent glass on beach pebbles. Pendant has silver plated bail and olive green cord. On top part of the pendant is a flower made of pink petals and darker yellow center outlined in a dark, brownish line (due to chemical reaction between compounds in yellow and pink glass). Flower is on the white background, and around that is irregular lime green area with an orange streak on one side. Lime green area is again outlined with a dark line due to chemical reaction. Outside of that area is turquiose blue, and the edges and base of the pendant is medium forest green color. Pendant is 3.7cm (1 1/2") long and 2.9cm (1 1/8")wide.
