Excellent inspiration for what to do if I'm in Seattle more this winter. I too have the pirate ship counterpart, iirc!

Lovely Built To Spill show at the Neptune tonight. Jim Roth joined to add an extra guitar for the 40-minute encore. The trio is great, but I miss those extra guitars, so it was awesome to have Jim back for a whole set

I've revived my old @treestoknow.bsky.social account, semi-regularly posting text and the amazing illustrations of Hugh J. Hayes ( keeporegongreen.org/archive/ ) from an old edition of "Trees To Know In Oregon", if you're into that sort of thing.

Was lucky enough to catch Setting when they came through SF in May '24, and have been thinking about that show (and listening to all their live releases on bandcamp) ever since

Got to see 'em yesterday at HSB and at the Camp Winnarainbow benefit on Wednesday! Coming to the scene later in life, it's been great to be able to see folks like Peter Rowan still around and playing. First time I caught DSO (at the Warfield), they had him front an acoustic first set; fantastic!

recently they've they've hidden reviews by default (tho not overall rating, sigh), which makes it slightly less terrible. i've been reluctantly using it for tracking the last couple of years, and do like it for that enough to put up with the ridiculousness

Fall of Freedom is an urgent call to the arts community to unite in defiance of authoritarian forces sweeping the nation. Our Democracy is under attack. Threats to free expression are rising. Dissent is being criminalized. Institutions and media have been recast as mouthpieces of propaganda.

This Fall, we are activating a nationwide wave of creative resistance. Beginning November 21โ€“22, 2025, galleries, museums, libraries, comedy clubs, theaters, and concert halls across the country will host exhibitions, performances, and public events that channel the urgency of this moment. Fall of Freedom is an open invitation to artists, creators, and communities to take partโ€”and to celebrate the experiences, cultures, and identities that shape the fabric of our nation.

Art matters. Artists are a threat to American fascism.

Invitation to friends in the arts. I'm part of a group organizing a project called Fall of Freedom. We want artists and orgs of all kinds (whether you're an Indie bookstore, a cinema, gallery, whatever) to come together to resist authoritarianism. Starting November 21st...

There's a great chance to see some aurora tonight! A few tips for the casual observer in this thread.

First off, this forecast shows potential overhead aurora (green band) and the edge of where you might be able to see it near the horizon (green line)
