Also someone needs to explain to, not just Rappoport (who is an idiot), but a lot of other people too, that the premise of democratic socialism is not that everyone is poor but that everyone can have nice things and afford an occasional date night out

if you're not from or have never been to new york i cannot stress enough how normal the subway is 99% of the time. kids take it to school. everyone is basically chill. you learn to be in proximity with harmless weirdos or minor irritations pretty quick. for all its issues it's an incredible thing

The rising trend of *micro-retirements* means career professionals are pressing pause for 1-2 weeks every year to avoid burnout and boost well-being. While it's gaining traction (even among non-Gen Z workers), experts warn these breaks could come with long-term financial and career tradeoffs. Is unplugging worth the risk? Here's what to consider before booking your "someday" now.

I never really got how people would be excited that so-and-so went to the same school as them but I must admit I am bizarrely pleased that Mamdani and I went to the same elementary school. (Bank Street, which I absolutely loved every day of as a child, which is also saying something in NYC)
