my perception is the the medical profession has comparatively been very conservative about not repeating the boom/bust cycle of law schools because they want to preserve the value of their degree, which is rough in a world that could use more doctors and nurses...

there are states where you can take the bar exam without being a graduate of an accredited school, but given that law school enrollments overall are still historically down I dont see what problem they can pretend this is solving beyond ideological.
