The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is Canada’s largest integrated cancer research, teaching, and treatment centre, one of the top cancer research centres in the world and is one of the University Health Network’s six research institutes.

🔬 New study from Dr. Alex Vitkin's team shows that adding high-res optical imaging helps explain and inform low-res MRI signals. This enables quantification of important microvascular details in tumours for more precise clinical cancer imaging.

Our study found that, in early-stage lung cancer, smoking status can have a greater impact on survival outcomes than some traditional staging factors, led by our Clinician Investigator Dr. Lawson Eng and an international team of researchers.

For his role in shaping the Canadian #cancer #research landscape, Dr John Dick has been awarded the 2024 Lifetime Contribution Prize.
Dr Dick’s accomplishments include discovering the cells that give rise to leukemia, learning how these cells turn cancerous and developing new ways to treat cancer.
For her achievements in biomedical #cancer #research, Dr Cheryl Arrowsmith is the 2024 Robert L. Noble Prize awardee.
Dr Arrowsmith studies how certain proteins in the body interact to drive cancer. She develops ways to study these proteins & identify which ones may be good anticancer drug targets.
Last week, three UHN researchers were named Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. This prestigious honour recognizes excellence in academic health sciences.
