What does the CPB closure mean for the future of public media? The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which has long helped sustain public media stations, announced it will shut down after losing $1.1 billion in federal funding.

Mr. Trump has been on a winning streak this summer, emerging victorious in a series of Supreme Court rulings, signing a massive bill to carry out his domestic policy agenda and winning concessions from some of America’s top trading partners. Now, by checking off a long-sought item on his list of pet projects, Mr. Trump is showing that he apparently feels emboldened to continue flexing his presidential power.

In mourning today - for the stations, the producers, the hosts, the engineers ... but mostly for what the public has lost. Even those who are cheering the death of the CPB. Someday it might dawn on them what they've done to their well-being and that of their children.
