I suspect if only these policies had been announced, without the drama over global so-called reciprocal tariffs, the market would have reacted differently. Long run in probably doesn't matter but markets have only so much capacity to take in new information.

Markets are underestimating the potential impact of a protracted and dramatic government shutdown. The unprecedented factor in this shutdown threat is how it could be leveraged by DOGE to cement control over the federal government’s payment systems.

A U.S. security review made AppLovin America’s hot stock β€” and its founders rich Who says government can’t create wealth? CFIUS, an obscure panel playing an increasing market role, blocked the sale of AppLovin years before a stock-market bonanza.

In 2016, AppLovin founders thought they had struck gold. The mobile advertising firm, founded by Adam Foroughi and his team, had inked a $1.4 billion deal to sell itself to China’s Orient Hontai Capital. A massive payday was on the horizon.

Then Washington intervened.

New CBO analysis says that a universal Trump tariff of 10% and 60% on China would raise $2.7 trillion over 10 years and raise consumer prices by roughly 1%. Not a very progressive tax, but seems like a once-in-a-generation opportunity to get the GOP to pass some tax hikes (and take the blame).

A lot of Democrats want the party to represent the working class, and so cannot accept that members of a labor union are not a favorable demographic. There are many reasons why this reductive thinking, but a lot of people adopt the conviction in good faith.
