Soil stability concerns force construction pause at 2 public schools coming to west Edmonton | CBC News Two schools set to be built in the Rosenthal and Edgemont neighbourhoods may need more time before they can open their doors after the province identified issues with soil at the sites.

For anyone wondering why I'm so adamant that geotech & site readiness planning is critical. "Work on two... schools in west Edmonton is taking a backseat... after the province identified potential issues regarding soil stability..." So, from a 2023-2029 timeline to πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Mayor Kramer has been one of my favourite people to work with this term through our service on the Homeland Housing board. He's thoughtful, kind, and wickedly smart. Westlock is lucky to have him!

Oh, controls would for sure be critical... But they are in human-driven work, too. The ethics - and risk management - are both fascinating and hard (impossible at this point?) to keep up with.

Huh. As the partner of someone who spends a ton of time charting, I would think that using AI would just free up time to focus on stuff that can't be replaced with tech. But the privacy thing - including grammarly! - is what's holding us back at my health-affiliated workplace.

I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped I was stuck in a freezing cell without explanation despite eventually having lawyers and media attention. Yet, compared with others, I was lucky

Reading: "Companies... receive government funding based on the number of people they detain, which is why they lobby for stricter immigration policies. It’s a lucrative business..." www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Residential school denialism: what is it and how to recognize it | CBC News Residential school denialism does not deny the existence of the school system, but rather downplays, excuses or misrepresents facts surrounding the harms caused by it, experts say.

Such a great film. "It's a movie that is really about people being very nice to each other... There are fewer and fewer spaces that are not predicated on opposition and cruelty, winners and losers, and pitting people against each other." www.cbc.ca/news/canada/... #MatthewRankin #UniversalLanguage

And your parents are well?

Maybe. A more interesting discussion is about consumerism - and whether over-consumption can be curbed by prohibiting the manufacture of products that appear to only exist to psychologically encourage excess. Or whether we're willing to ban products that *have* a documented connection with illness.

What's a fair compensation for a role like this, considering the time commitment, lack of stability, etc.? I don't have a particularly educated opinion about what the figure should be & I prefer these kinds of decisions to be based on transparent metrics, but I'm not sure what's appropriate.

β€˜He kept going until he couldn’t’: why do boomer men refuse to slow down? Those born in the baby boomer generation are entering the longest phase of elderhood in history, full of potential but also fraught with challenges

"When it comes to boomer men’s identity, work often ends up becoming a cornerstone... This association of identity & worthiness with productivity & achievement means... retirement & health decline can leave many ageing men struggling to find purpose and value..." www.theguardian.com/wellness/202...
