I had an email from someone whom I’m working with - they addressed me as
Roisin, a chara

it has endeared me to them for ever, kinda also made me very emotional as someone recognises that we can use our own language to greet each other
like if you are Mexican why are we using English?

CountryWide - RTÉ Radio 1 The CountryWide team feature the events, people and happenings that bring colour and life to communities, towns and villages across the country.

Q: Why was the person responsible for the Blackwater fish kill never found?

A: it wasn’t anybody’s job.

I talked to the heads of all the agencies involved in the investigation, about why the biggest pollution event in Irish history fell between the cracks.

Powerful storm.. My first geography paper as a masters student was research on shoreline erosion from coastal storms on New Jersey barrier islands, and impact of human made structures (jetties, seawalls, artificial dunes) on beach width. The Ash Wednesday storm 1962 was the most destructive/erosive.

I’d know a lot about the liberties but I heard things on that tour I never knew. It’s a real heart & soul tour.

I did it during the summer as part of a co-design project we were doing in the area it was epic, really recommend it.

Yes I'm being nosey. But hearing Irish "in the wild" feels wonderful. I'm inspired to start practising again - no one in my family speaks it fluently but by my early 20s (thanks to extracurricular activities) I got pretty close to that level. Maybe I still have more of it inside me than I realized!

realised only recently the field of pheasants you pass on the train Rathdrum - Arklow south bound is actually a breeding ground

about two weeks ago I noticed young pheasants behind a fence with feed

probably the local gun club but that maybe jumping to conclusions

anyways the field was full

our education systems only really educates one form of economics

so if we want something different we have to create something different

education = a lever for change

if you know an economics teacher interested in reclaiming economics - ecological or regenerative send them my direction

currently Ireland Gov open submissions on

- circular economy
- economic curriculum in schools review

I’m half way through the circular economy one & I’m impressed by the realism of the Construction sector

it also states a new economic model is required

hence the second submission prep

The Nobel Prize for Economics was invented in 1968 by the Central Bank of Sweden, they pay the Nobel Foundation to award it. This is one of those facts which I think should be commented on more often.

this was 30 minutes later from the beach at Cahore, coffee was good, noticed a jellyfish on the shore that’s unusual there

enjoyed the little seal popping its head up and two early skin swimmers in and doing a full lap
