'the have the leverage' they have the votes to do so. but they are quickly learning that they dont have much political capital with average americans. this would be a good time to actually push back on them forcefully

i would posit that the reason that dems are wary of a shutdown is that they are simply unwilling to do the work necessary and are out of touch with the changing dynamics of the american population over the last 15 months.

i would describe that as 'cowardly.' especially given that the last shutdown was being placed squarely at the feet of republicans as was easily seen by the landslide victory in virginia's 2025 elections.
