Some more evidence for β€œbark stripping” , though this juvenile is not β€œstripping”, he is picking at the bark.

Not a common behaviour in Gibraltar, but I have witnessed three separate troops do this- what they have in common is that it is always on a Eucalyptus tree (Eucalyptus globulus)

Hawkmoth visitor diversity for flowers of the African orchid Bonatea antennifera.

Evolution, will you ever cease to amaze? Using camera traps to study the pollination of an African orchid by short-tongued hawkmoths, scent production was found to be synchronized with peak moth activity at dusk! As Brian Cox says...that's amazing! πŸ§ͺπŸŒπŸ‘‡

The eastern monarch butterfly population nearly doubled in 2025

β€œWe recognize the key role of local communities, as well as the support of the government of Mexico in conserving the forest and providing this iconic species with the opportunity to thrive”

Just Hang On: Australian Gall Midges Suspend Themselves on Spider Silk Without Becoming Entangled Silk is a versatile biological material for its producers yet also introduces novel resources into the environment that non-silk producers can exploit. We provide observations of Australian gall midg....

ETHOLOGY: Just hang on! Australian gall midges have been observed suspending themselves on spider silk for resting, without getting entangled. A clever trick to avoid predators?

A male juvenile Barbary macaque enjoys some exploring and foraging. You can clearly see his vestigial tail here, one of the features that still classify them as β€œmonkeys” #barbarymacaque #primates #research #phd #gibraltar
