For #NBHAAD, PJP Partners Group affirms a truth named by Black leaders: the inequitable distribution of public health resources is a matter of life & death. We demand HIV medical, social justice & public health sectors name & disrupt the anti-Blackness & inequality at the heart of our HIV response.

Trump admin is "destroying medical research," Senate report finds
In a Senate hearing Tuesday, NIH director dismissed concern about research chaos.
NIH research is in the red zone. $561M in grants for cancer and heart disease is frozen, and 304 trials are defunded. Vacancies in 15 director roles create a leadership gap that stalls medical progress here in the US.

At a time when Black history is being erased, places like the Louis Armstrong House matter more than ever. That’s why I’m proud to partner with the Louis Armstrong House Museum to offer free admission to all visitors on Saturday, February 7th.

NYC’s mayor @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social made a superb choice here.
It also gave me the joy of being able to talk about a colleague on national television, as he assumes the role of #NYC Health Commissioner.
The city is in great hands with Dr @alisterfmartin.bsky.social.

Ethnic Cleansing in Ohio?
Nazi Lies in Vance's America
In Springfield, Ohio, people are preparing in advance of a “large deportation” promised by the president. To all appearances, the city is 2 or 3 days from a federal ethnic cleansing, grounded in a hate campaign organized by the vice-president and American Nazis.

This line graph illustrates the percentage change in agency staff levels from the previous year for nine major U.S. federal scientific and health organizations between the fiscal years 2016 and 2025. The agencies tracked include the CDC, Department of Energy, EPA, FDA, NASA, NIH, NIST, NOAA, and NSF. For the majority of the timeline between 2016 and 2023, the agencies show relatively stable fluctuations, generally staying within a range of +5% to -5% change per year. However, there is a dramatic and uniform plummet starting in the 2024–25 period. Every agency depicted shows a sharp downward trajectory, with staffing losses ranging from approximately -15% to over -25%. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows the most significant decline, dropping to roughly -26%, while the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) shows the least severe but still substantial drop at approximately -15%.
This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

ICE raids are cruel, inhumane, and do nothing to serve public safety.
My responsibility is to be the mayor to each and every person that calls this city their home. That includes millions of immigrants— of which I am one.
