The Australian Government paying hundreds of millions of dollars to Nauru to forcibly disappear migrants is immoral and illegal under international law, and outrageously expensive #auspol #politas

'Revolving door' between politics and lobbying rings transparency alarm bell Lobbying has become big business, with around 727 lobbyists registered in the national capital, more than three times the number of elected officials sitting in parliament.

This is how broken our lobbying laws are.

Every resources minister since 2001 went on to work for fossil fuel companies & 8 ex-ministers & senior advisers now lobby for gamblingπŸ’°

It's time for complete reform of lobbying rules + independent watchdog.

Hegseth reposts video of pastors saying women shouldn’t be allowed to vote The repost on X from the US defence secretary illustrates his deep, personal connection to a Christian nationalist pastor with extreme views on the role of religion and women.

Pretty sure the 70% of the world who are NOT Christian and the 10 million Australians who have "no religion" ( 2021 Census) will not be coming along quietly.
Time to see the US as a rogue nation - not worthy allies.
Time to abandon #AUKUS

Both the United States and the United Kingdom are reviewing the AUKUS agreement.

In light of this, and the consequential nature of the agreement, it's vital that our Parliament do the same.

The crossbench will push to ensure scrutiny is applied. Australians expect nothing less.

If one is censured by a nation's Parliament for behaviour officially found to be "corrosive of trust in government", and is referred to an anti-corruption commission for misleading its Cabinet about the "crude and cruel" Robodebt scheme, how is one then eligible for said country's highest honour?

Tasmania in crisis over billion-dollar AFL stadium The Tasmanian Liberal government is in crisis and a snap election likely to be called as the premier clings to plans for a stadium that will bankrupt the state.

I'd love to see Tasmania in the AFL. But there's a lot of footy people blithely dismissing the considerable objections to the insistence on a new stadium as part of the deal without bothering to understand them. They should definitely read this piece.

Calls to revisit oil and gas tax after government revises intake down $4bn The government expected to raise an additional $2.4 billion over four years thanks to changes to the tax on oil and gas profits. It is now forecasting to raise $4 billion less over that same time.

The great Aussie gas giveaway is set to continue under Labor 🀯🫠

This is a total scam - we haven’t received a cent of PRRT for offshore LNG exports & the weak changes Govt made last term aren’t fixing it.

Parliament needs to fix the PRRT.

The ongoing loss of life, starvation and human suffering in Gaza is unconscionable and I do not accept that Australia's influence is limited. I have written to the Prime Minister asking him to use the authority of his office in a stand against the actions of Israel. #gaza #auspol

People claiming Dutton didn’t have a strategy to win back the teal seats aren’t seeing the bigger picture here. Liberals’ grubby Advance campaign outfit has been campaigning for months telling people Greens are extremists and teals are secret Greens. This is how Dutton worked to win teal seats.

Coalition commits extraordinary about-face on 'end' to work from home A Coalition promise to send public servants back to the office has been jettisoned, and plans to cut 41,000 Commonwealth jobs walked back significantly, in a mid-campaign backflip.

A humiliating backdown on an ideologically driven policy that would have hurt services, ppl working from home & pushed the ACT into recession.

I'll keep fighting against public service cuts but have no confidence Coalition won't keep attacking Canberra.

Community Independents are a shining light because in the end you are not a community independent unless you can impress a fair proportion of the electorate that you are worth them giving up time and making an effort to get you elected. that process so far is seeing the cream rising
