Here are a couple of doodles I worked out when considering these feel free to steal :)

Another thing is reversing letters - G is a VERY difficult letter to invert because it looks very similar to a J when stylized. What you could do instead is hide something else in the font! You're not making something for repetition, like a normal font, so you can do some fun things!

One of the most important things that people don't realise about fonts is keeping a stable line weight for a lot of the letter. Using heavily tapering designs makes this very difficult to do, but if you have a point in your mind that it stops being the "normal" weight and starts tapering, it works!
