But (as seen in the editor's note) after Star Trek III, some fans got really into it and Spock/McCoy due to McCoy having Spock's katra (soul) inside his mind and the horny implications.

Another thing I'm gonna highlight across all zines are the layouts. So much work and love went into making them.

I'll start where I started: In Triplicate (1985) and Matter/Antimatter #2 (1979). All of the fanzines are older than me, I was not there when this deep magic was written, and most of my info is from me spending so much time on fanlore.org (my beloved).

In Triplicate is a McSpirk or K/S/Mc zine.

A digital art piece featuring spock from the original series star trek tos) In this piece, he is seen half laying on his side with one leg folded under him while his weight is being placed on his right hand side. From his head there are a few crest feathers His facial expression is solemn and his eyes are mostly closed. He looks to be resting on a marble stone wall with many pillars holding it up, however this is not fully rendered, as the statues are simply placed behind him without having any affect on his body. The main feature of this piece is the large peacock tail that he has which trails down and cuts through the boarder of the art piece. It is done in many different greens and blues, however they may seem desaturated as the overall purple overtone may give this feeling. There are various kinds of foliage surrounding him, including trees as well as cat-tails and peacock plants. Along the inside boarder, the piece takes a slightly lighter shade along with lace along the inside. On the black part of the boarder there are also lace designs. On the outside rims of the boarders, there are plant forms on either side which are mirrored. On the top there are a few similar Floral designs, however they are very loose in form. On the bottom, the boarder dissolves into ivy-like shapes which cover more flower and plant like designs, however on either side there are vulcan lirpas which face inward. The overall piece is lightly purple toned, and there is a light noise filter overtop everything.

An action figure of Leonard “Bones” McCoy styled after his cameo in the first episode of Star Trek The Next Generation. He is an old man with white hair, wearing a dark sweater. The TNG-era hypospray accessory that came with the figure is in the toy’s hand. The action figure has been secured inside of a clear oval-shaped plastic zippered pouch with a keychain attached to the top. This style of pouch is often used to display figures or plushies of anime characters on ita bags. The back of the clear pouch has been decorated with a small print from CassNoelStudio on Etsy, cut slightly to size. It is a pink, cutesy pattern of hearts, pills, syringes, stars, and bandaids. The stand the figure came with is secured to the upper right hand corner, shaped like a TNG comm badge with the words “ADM. MCCOY” printed on it. The bottom of the pouch has been filled with tiny pompom balls, coming up to the figure’s knees, in the colors dark brown, light brown, white, grey, light blue, and light pink. Pompom balls are a common embellishment for these displays but yes, I did also mean to evoke tribbles.
