As a recording engineer who was living/working in L.A. in the 90s, I don't agree at all with this assessment, for a bunch of reasons. That said, generally, vinyl sounds "nicer" (to human ears) and CDs sound "more accurate", but some of that can also be mastering.

From maybe ~2010 this is true, but tape was still being used through the early aughts pretty extensively. Also, the vinyl reissues in question are definitely remastered specifically for vinyl, and usually from high res source material - original raw mixes from tape, 92KHz+ audio, etc.

Really just pedantry, but that isn't technically mastering. It's production, mixing, and the limitations of working with 4 (or 8) tracks, combined with exquisite audio recording by skilled engineers. Mastering is important, but is just the final polish.
The songs are also great, which helps a lot!
