The carapace placement and shape also looks very spider-like — another way of presenting the character as female. Reminds me of Coraline’s mom.

The judge left the usual line of exemptive wording they always do for cops allowing them to use it if an officer believes their safety is in danger. Thus, the gassing will continue.
