Kids who get these services are more likely to graduate high school & go to college or get a job. Every $1 spent on special education returns $2-3 to the economy. Non-disabled kids in classrooms with disabled kids also have better outcomes. Keeping these laws is good for our kids & the economy 2/2

1 in 7 students receives help in school because of a disability. This can include extra time on tests, tutoring, or an aide to help them. Schools receiving federal $ (all public schools) has to provide this help. 17 states are suing, saying this requirement is unconstitutional (Texas v Becerra) 1/2

What should Democrats be doing? They should be legislatively opposing everything Republicans do, grinding down their operation so it can barely operate. They should be on constant attack, berating and deriding their actions - on social media, in the press, and on air.

Medicaid also pays hospitals that serve a lot of Medicaid recipients and uninsured people. If Medicaid stops doing that, most rural hospitals will close or stop caring for these people. Medicaid cuts would destroy healthcare in rural America. 2/2

Stimulants help kids w ADHD focus & manage impulsive behaviors that get them in trouble. Side effects include loss of appetite or nausea, but go away when the child stops taking them. Kids w/ ADHD who take stimulants do better in school and are LESS likely to smoke, or become depressed, or suicidal

We should only use it when someone is an immediate danger to themselves or others. If you'd like to learn more about our awful history of institutional care for mental illness, and why wellness farms are a really bad idea, just read about Willowbrook or Pennhurst. 2/2

So many problems with "wellness farms.” Here are 2: 1) taking someone out of community for treatment doesn’t work because they go back to the same situations and settings, and don't have skills to deal with them, leading to more problems. 2) The US has a history of awful institutional care. 1/2

On the first day of RFK Jr: 5200 HHS workers got fired; the director and much of the staff of the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) got fired. At the NIH directors learned of the imminent firings - about 1500 people. At the CDC 1300 people are about to be fired.
