The gales are bringing down leaves. Look for green islands at the base of the Populus species for Ectoedemia mines. This is the first Ectoedemia hannoverella of the season on Black Poplar this morning

I bought a mine of Phyllonorycter pastorella from our Weeping Willow indoors yesterday afternoon to see if an adult would emerge
It did - by this morning!

Donโ€™t know if anyone is interested in any of these as Iโ€™m having a clear out
I also have the complete run from 1955 (mostly in good condition)
Make an offer?

Think itโ€™s Phyllonorycter messaniella. P cerasicolella mines cause the leaf to arch up as the mine contracts. Your leaf stays flat

Heterathrus microcephalus on our Weeping Willow - a sawfly miner I rarely see. Lyonetia prunifoliella mining Blackthorn seedlings in the garden. Lots of frass extruded under the leaf is characteristic

Northern Deep-brown Dart is synonomised with Deep Brown Dart now Alan and all our British moths are Deep Brown Dart. Barcoding showed there was no difference

Interesting and enjoyable art installation of fen sounds at Wicken Fen (ends Sunday) with sound hoods playing fen sounds eg underwater plants and animals etc. Loved this one as it fills with water and tips up causing an ocarina to sound!
