As I am a closing employee, I don’t feel comfortable staying there anymore.
I just hope the new place works out

There have been situations where chemically impaired individuals have tried to gain access to the inside of our store. This change will mean that these individuals will no longer be stopped by a locked door

This is a security and safety concern for me. While this store location isn’t necessarily in a suspect part of town, we are open until midnight through the week and later on weekends.
Frequently there are only two people on site after 10

The Shift Lead told me that as of the end of the month, the number pads will be removed and the doors will just be unlocked during business hours

Currently, there are card locks on the doors into the store so that on the clock employees (and managers) can have fairly secure access.
Last night, the cards were deactivated and we have to enter a door code to get in. Fine. Whatever

Going in tomorrow to complete (?) onboarding for new P/T job. Current P/T job has made a decision that may make leaving easier

The comment was made by the scheduler that the location is looking for a night front-end person full time (not optimal…) if things work out

The new place - waiting on drug test results - seems nice and both the manager I interviewed with and the scheduling manager were very friendly and the other staff were nice. I mean anything can change….but the company is usually well regarded as an employer

But can I afford to wait that long….

I had one of the shift leads tell me to just be patient and most of the new hires will leave because the store managrrrr is rubbish at scheduling and very tight with hours. If the kids - and I do mean kids (95% are under 18 and leave by 10 pm on weeknights) leave, I can pick up their hours

I don’t really want to leave p/t 1 - I like most of the people I work with and the customers. And I have put almost 2 years into that place

I haven’t told anyone there yet that I applied for, and got, another p/t job that pays over half again more, but can’t necessarily guarantee more than 8-16 hours a week

Sometimes the universe just whomps you upside the head with ‘do it!!’
Talked to p/t boss and said I needed 20 hours to make it worth my while to stay. Got 22 hours that week.
New week schedule just dropped. This week I am scheduled for 5 hours
