This is a great write-up on why less than 20% pay for #TeslaFSD. It's not delivering an experience that provides value. Maybe in the future, but it's not there now and doesn't look like it will be anytime soon.

Hopefully, Rivian won't make the same mistakes.

Politics aside and despite what people think of Elon Musk's antics, lack of interest in consumer automotive, or Tesla's seriously aging product portfolio, these are great cars. They are efficient, build quality is there (and getting better all the time) and work well with their charging network.

Yep. I get that. There isn't any reason not to lie anymore.

It might have been but I would have sped up to merge instead of slowing down. If that white van hadn't slowed down, I would have missed the turn at the light.

Regardless, it never should have been in the right turning lane.

One thing they can't seem to fix is picking the correct lane.

In addition, it misses an opportunity to merge quickly by getting in front of the blue Chevy. I attribute this to an incorrect "visualization" of distance by #TeslaFSD with the white car in front instead of knowing (i.e., with LiDAR).

That's all these guys care about ... headlines.

This is interesting but like a lot about #TeslaFSD, it's unreliable. Sometimes it works and other times it ignores the input. Some of this might be because it determines conditions are unsafe (who knows) but it gives the impression that it's not fully baked.

I still just can't get used to seeing #Waymo's on the highway. I guess this is why people don't get to live forever. If they did, nothing would change.

And, as reported, crash 4x more than human drivers.

Wow, it is about time. My biggest complaint right now is that you never know when you should be ready to take over. The system is inconsistent in where it might lose confidence. It's a step in the right direction.

I continue to be impressed with these later versions of #TeslaFSD as it has been consistently very good at navigating around construction. This shows a closed left lane ahead of a double left, turning south from Shea Blvd onto State Route 51 and it finds its way very smoothly.

Ha. Legacy US automakers know it's game over.

They will care when costs per vehicle do not come down and their decreased mileage costs them more.

I cross my fingers, with every Tesla FSD and navigational software update, that it will incrementally improve the system. And yet, it seems to never get this consistently correct. I think it's a problem with this whole roadway stack in downtown Phoenix. It doesn't use the HOV lanes properly either.

Fun fact: this week is huge for math nerds. It’s the first of 2 consecutive Friday the 13ths (March 13 is a Friday, too). That only happens ~3x every 28 years. Also, the date also works as an equation, where 2 x 13 = 26. That’s called a “magic date,” and it occurs a few times per year on average.

#TeslaFSD shows itself to be amazing in some situations with pedestrians who are hidden by cars, trees and bushes, who might not be paying attention as much as they should. Glad I am.

Although, I am not wild about how it starts to move before they have cleared the crosswalk. Too much like a human.

I don't disagree (they are all doing it, including the telecoms, app makers, etc.) but governments are spying on their citizens with or without Teslas. LOL

Definitely. Most wouldn't notice but not out of malice. Generally, most just don't think about it.

Coming out of Costco, you can see #TeslaFSD sees the stopped traffic and makes the decision to wait for vehicles that are wanting to turn.

Hard to tell if it's the black Nissan turning left in front (probably) or the white Toyota wanting to turn right. But it definitely decides to let them turn.

California could make a difference here assuming the Federal government doesn't trample on State's Rights.

This was a complicated left turn. There is already a car waiting in the turn lane, the truck comes up from behind and also wants to make a left turn. And there is a car coming in the opposite direction.

#TeslaFSD does a good job of navigating through this and even finds an empty space and parks.
