The meeting began
with an icebreaker:
โ€œwhich of your skills
would be most useful
if you found yourself
sent back in time
to the Middle Ages?โ€
and as I looked around
at all the unmasked faces
I was tempted to say:
I know how to
avoid the plague,
but instead I just said:
I can knit.

A vibrant landscape photograph captures a turquoise glacial river rushing over rocks in the foreground, with two hikersโ€”one in purple, the other in blueโ€”standing on the rocky riverbank. Dense coniferous forests of evergreen pines and firs, including some fire-scarred dead trees, line the valley and rise up steep, rugged cliffs on either side. In the background, a towering snow-capped Rocky Mountain peak looms dramatically under a partly cloudy blue sky.

On this day in 1886, Yoho National Park was created in British Columbia. It was established after Sir John A. Macdonald and his wife Agnes passed through the area on the newly-built CPR. The 1,313 sq-km national park is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

How denial of airborne COVID transmission broke the world - Healthy Debate Five years later, the greatest basic science failure in generations caused the pandemic harms highlighted by people across the political spectrum, and broke our social cohesion.

Just a reminder that we likely wouldn't be in the 6th year of an #OngoingPandemic with #NEIS if governments had implemented effective mitigations against #Airborne transmission -

Battle of the St. Lawrence. Many don't know that WW2 was actually happening in the St. Lawrence River. This happened just off the coast of where the Molsons spent their summers (Metis-sur-Mer) and well past the many populations living on the Gaspe peninsula. I can only imagine how chilling this was.

Ford is shameless. To see the harmful impacts of shameless government we need only look South. Yet we know his shamelessness has been causing harm here for years & in Toronto his brotherโ€™s shamelessness before that. Shamelessness is ok in some arenas but is the modern scurge when it comes to greed.

Pipelines should be understood as pipelines to hell now. Gain nothing useful, risk so much. Tell @mark-carney.bsky.social, MP/enviro min(hey @juliedabrusin.bsky.social)you DON'T want more pipelines prolonging our ties to dinosaur tech & destroying our land in dispersed (CO2/plastic)& localizedโฌ‡๏ธways.

They didnโ€™t just NOT give Trump the Nobel Peace Prize, they wrote a citation that reads like an anti-Trump rallying cry.

Local school board trustees are paid only $16,160 per year.

Thatโ€™s not a lot of money for the service they provide to our communities.

The people who do this are not in it โ€œfor the moneyโ€. They are in it because they want to make a difference in their community.

Thank you for your service. ๐Ÿ™

Likelihood these people actually care a fig about ostriches is pretty much nil. After all:

1) Ostriches are technically immigrants
2) Despite their reputation they do NOT bury their heads in sand, unlike convoy types.
3) Males of the species help out with child rearing.

Ergo... not much in common

09.10.2025 11:44 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

& guess what.. one of those boys got VERY good & is now away at school on a baseball scholarship.. so hey. The Jays can drive some pretty powerful stuff. I love watching them. I donโ€™t always get engaged but when I can I do. Iโ€™m a BIG Jays fan & even some of our oldest friends donโ€™t know everything!

09.10.2025 10:11 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

& I loved that it obsessed my children for a few years & a school that frankly had divided itself was brought together. My kids woke up breathing baseball along with their friends. They climbed tall fences to get there faster. & the Jays success helped to propel that spirit & community came together

09.10.2025 10:08 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

& old friends recently said to me-surprised, โ€œyouโ€™re a Jays fan?โ€ &I realized they missed that part of my childhood when I begged my brothers-even mother to pitch to me & though I wasnโ€™t on a team outside school intramural 2-pitch-๐Ÿ˜ that feeling of a ball landing in a glove& thwack of bat on ball.

09.10.2025 10:05 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Itโ€™s a bit personal-for me-we have a ball diamond across road & my kids played with neighbours & it built community & diamond is threatened b/c in a school & despite benefits they donโ€™t โ€˜getโ€™ community significance, how it mends, but when Jays do well it is clearer to them. Relevance is made clear.

Very classy booing our ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆanthem NY. Letโ€™s remember that when Cdns were booing the USn anthem it was in the midst of threats of annexation by your pathetic leader. Canada has made no such threats.
