My Favourite Part
YouTube video by Satellite Birdhouse - Topic My Favourite Part

New music by Canadian indie group @satellitebirdhouse.com and it's a beauty. The voice, the lyrics, the melody. ❀️ I can see this becoming a favourite at weddings. Give it a listen.

Love, Me by Collin Raye
I’ve only listened to it once. I had to pull over till I stopped crying. I stopping listening to country music then too. Too risky.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈUSA security guarantees for πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦Ukraine?
You kidding?
Anyone know history?
The UK and France guaranteed Poland’s security.
In no time, Russia and Hitler carved up Poland between them, provoking WW II.
At war’s end, πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈFDR abandoned Poland to Stalin’s tender mercies despite πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Churchill’s protests.

What Canadian artists need to know about US tariffs β€Ί CARFAC The national voice of Canada’s professional visual artists

My social media is filled with artists announcing that they are suspending shipments to the US when the de minimis tariff exemptions are removed August 29.

This is devastating for a lot of small businesses. Canadian artists should find artworks still exempt from tariffs (in accordance with CUSMA)

My cherry tomatoes ripened but they have super thick skin. When it's very hot, they grow the skin thick to protect the moisture inside from drying out. They taste ok but the skins stay in one piece despite chewing and eventually have to be spit out.

Today is the by-election in Battle River-Crowfoot. It would be great to see Poilievre lose. The CPC is taking this riding for granted to parachute in their worst liability...for a guaranteed seat. I sure hope the people of the riding see him/them for the grifters they are. #cdnpoli #canadasky

Songwriters β€” don’t wait. Register your songs the moment you write them. It’s cheap, fast, and could save you thousands later in court or land you that sync deal. A step-by-step guide is on the blog. zurl.co/fFDuX

I hope the people of Battle River Crowfoot show PP that they're not easy. He took them for granted when he was parachuted in and he'll take them for granted if he's elected. Don't be easy. He won't appreciate it.

I'm not losing steam. I'm buying Canadian groceries as much as possible and non-American when I can't find a Canadian product. The stores are getting with it now which makes it even easier.

And a lot of Americans still don't get it. We will never forget this betrayal. Never. They should be ashamed.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ needs more authentic, selfless, humble & dedicated people to represent Canadians in Parliament. Bonnie didn't have to do this, she's retired from the military and has served Canada proudly. This is the character and dedication we need in Ottawa. We don't need nor want self absorbed rage farmers.

New work in the studio. Playing hockey on ice that froze in a construction mud pit is about as Toronto as you can get.

A Maine politician sent Canadians an unprompted offer to join the US Sen. Joe Martin, R-Rumford, wrote the undated letter focused on how British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba could seek admission.

Canada will never join the United States. Maine senator Joe Martin can go fuck himself.

Pencil sketch on a 9x12 spiral bound sketchbook. Scene in an urban neighbourhood circa 1919. View from middle of open space with a gully on the right. In the distance are a few 2 story houses and a string of hydro poles and wires. The open space and gully are mud with footsteps frozen hard into it. A wide messy path winds down from the roadway along the top. Houses silhouetted along the raised horizon. One person walks down the path. A group of six people stand at the roadway looking down into the gully. I small sheet of ice has frozen at the bottom of the gully and six kids are skating, two with hockey sticks. The ice continues with rocks sticking through, down to the foreground and bottom right corner. At the top of the gully on the right are a few bare branch trees, one leading over into the gully.

When I was a kid at school I studied by writing my notes out over and over. As an adult, I always write out a shopping list but once it's written, I don't even need to take it shopping with me. Prep work for a painting with a lot of detail involves sketching it a few times. It's how my brain works.

This senator from Maine wrote Canadians a letter. I wrote back. Spoiler: he’s not going to like it.

Charcoal sketch on white paper in a spiral bound sketchbook. Very rough. A pit or gully in an urban neighbourhood. In the distance are houses and hydro poles and wires. One tall bare branch tree at the bottom of the gully, a few at the top of the hill ono the right.

Sketching to unravel a painting coming together in my mind. The studio's too hot to paint in for another week or so, so I'm planning and sketching in preparation.
