But for blind people specifically, the pay gap is a career gap.
Did you know that as a blind person with a degree you have the same employment chances as a non-disabled person without even one GCSE?
We work twice as hard for half the chance.

For blind people, itโ€™s not a glass ceiling, itโ€™s a locked door.
Perhaps, instead of punitive cuts and demonisation in the media, the #DWP and #TimmsReview should turn their attention to where this problem starts, not where it ends - a discriminatory employment landscape. 3/3

Todayโ€™s #WomensPayDay in the UK. The first day of the year women get paid according to the #GenderPayGap.
But for #disabled ppl, that day is 2wks off, and for disabled women, itโ€™s months away.

If Keir Starmer, Pat McFadden & Rachel Reeves believe they have a moral case for welfare reform, why act immorally by falsely linking PIP to disabled ppl in work, when, in fact, PIP is not an out of work benefit. Those truly on the moral high ground donโ€™t need to sneak.

Some people spot a sack of crap a mile off. Others need to be force fed manure before they see it for what it is. Not sure what this difference is, some might say education, some instinct, others intelligence, but whatever the quality is, we donโ€™t seem to have enough of it lying around these days.

The UK doesn't need to raise Income Tax because people who pay Income Tax already pay a lot of tax.

But among the richest 1% more than 80% of their money isn't taxed by Income Tax.

Tax that at 47% too, and you get ยฃ250bn a year.

That's what needs to be done.

The richest 1% in the UK have ยฃ3tn, more than the poorest 75% of people.

With their wealth you could build 30 million houses.

That's more than we currently have in total.

3.6% of all tax revenue in Switzerland comes from Wealth Tax.

That would ยฃ38bn in the UK, and Switzerland has 20% millionaires.

Have they left?

A 2% wealth tax in the UK would raise ยฃ40bn a year.

The richest 150 people in the UK are making ยฃ2m EACH every single day, on which they pay next to no tax and greater than 90% goes to tax havens.

You want to worry about that, not Disabled people.

Social security is not a burdenโ€”itโ€™s a force for good Instead of old-fashioned rhetoric about costs to the state, the government should tell a better story about welfare

Labour came to power on a promise of โ€œchangeโ€. But their muted changes to social security represent a continuation of austerity and the decimation of the UKโ€™s safety net, writes @ruthpatrick0.bsky.social.

Killing Medicaid, killing vaccines, killing Social Security: It all has one purpose. The Nazis called people who required public assistance Lebensunwertes Leben: Lives unworthy of living. The richest 3,000 people have $15tn that is $5,000,000,000 each.

If you made them all live with just $1bn there would be $12tn to spend.

And they wouldn't even notice.
