Tonight feels v much like June 2009 when James Purnell quit the Brown cabinet saying Brown was going to lose the election, & everyone thought it was the start of a coup. (Including me, who was on a family holiday & cut it short to go back to the office, in order for nothing to actually happen)

It does make me laugh - he’s not had a proper job for 27 years - unless you call grifting and taking money from dodgy sources a job.

I have today been informed that, despite personal assurances to the contrary, the Green party have once again used my image and misrepresented my words on a second leaflet circulated in Gorton and Denton ahead of the by-election. I have now lodged an official complaint with the returning officer.
