This is what is happening right now.

I want to be clear about one thing since the Chicago press isn't getting it: This is NOT about gerrymandering. JB Pritzker is NOT a hypocrite. Texas is already gerrymandered.

This is happening because Texas law dictates that redistricting is to take place every 10 years. 🧡

It's the going for help with Pritzker that makes this truly remarkable and potentially a sign of national Democratic coordination

BREAKING: Texas House Democrats have fled the state to break quorum and stop the redistricting scheme. Minority Leader Gene Wu is declaring: This corrupt special session is over.

Democrats are now on their way to Illinois and will hold a press conference with Governor JB Pritzker at 7:15pm

As A Brown University Alumnus, Let Me Say: Fuck This β€” Assigned A Brown alumnus recalls his time at the β€˜gayest’ university and calls for the Brown community to stand united against the Trump deal.

A reminiscence on trans college life in the closet and a big fuck you to Brown University for trading the rights of their trans students to the Trump Administration in this special Sunday piece by @sandyernestallen.bsky.social.

Transphobia is infuriating AND self-defeating. If you're AFAB, you're going to go through menopause...HRT has been a lifesaver for me. It may even stave off dementia!

If HRT is banned for trans folks, think it'll be easy for us cis folk to access it?

A little solidarity just might save YOUR life.

Trump's Mar-a-Lago Spa Was Tailor-Made for Epstein The Trump Spa sought "young, attractive" college students to wear mini-skirts and "skin-tight" tops

NEW FROM ME: How come no one's asked Trump WHY Epstein and Maxwell chose his upscale resort to hunt for vulnerable girls?

It turns out that court records and even help-wanted ads from the time offer plenty of answers...

The Billy Joel doc on HBO really is excellent, and I say this as someone whose feelings about him have always run somewhere between active dislike to grudging admiration.

Argentine Feminists, Retirees and Unions Unite Against Milei - Truthdig President Javier Milei rivals Donald Trump in far-right policies and repression of dissent, but Argentines defiantly and consistently resist.

Javier Milei promised to β€œblow up the state.” Now Argentina’s retirees are skipping meals.
The resistance? It’s only getting stronger.

For a decade, Trump has wanted to be a dictator. The only changes during that time are 1) the realization by Republicans across the board that they might be able to use his cult of personality as a *permanent* power grab, and 2) the speed of our institutional degradation and collapse.

New leaders aren’t coming some day in the future -- they’re already here.
Since the November election, more than 60,000 people have signed up with Run for Something to consider running for office -- joining our pipeline of more than 225,000 people who’ve ever signed up with us.

To put that in context: In the entirety of Trump’s first term -- all four years -- we saw 67,000 people raise their hands to run for office (including the folks I listed earlier! We’re likely to exceed that total by September 2025.

The biggest moments so far have been immediately post Election Day in November, the first big wave of DOGE firings, when Sen. Chuck Schumer folded on the continuing resolution fight without giving an inch, and when Zohran Mamdani won the NYC mayoral primary against the old guard -- the last of those being our biggest organic candidate recruitment surge of the last 8+ years, with 10,000 new people signing up in just two weeks, inspired by seeing a young leader bring joy, love for community, and a focus on affordability win against the odds.

Of those folks signing up expressing interest, we expect about 10% to actually get on the ballot -- many of them will be running for local offices in 2026.

The Democratic Party is changing, and per every poll of the last six months, it couldn’t happen soon enough. These local candidates -- a vast majority of whom are millennials and gen Z, running in all 50 states -- are bringing fresh energy and a new perspective into the party.

The tenor may upset you, but that being the case doesn't mean the issue should be dismissed.

Buttigieg is one of a long line of Democrats making trans issues into a talking point when they don't even need to touch it. It's a choice. And it needs to be called out. That's not a purity test.

i do not understand how sports bans became the moderate position except for a widespread concerted propaganda campaign by people with ties to the conversion therapy movement

and i do not understand how anyone who calls themselves an ally to the lgbtq+ movement can even flirt with that?

Again, just for this One Special Boy. If Biden or Obama, or hell, even GWB, had tried this, no one would've done this. Wall-to-wall stories about violating treaties, breaking the law, & calls for immediate impeachment. I understand why the GOP acts like this now. I don't get why anyone else does.
