folks don't know that AIs scraping websites accounts for like half of all internet bandwidth usage right now. Sites get scraped- ie, all the contents downloaded- over and over again, destroying/wasting their bandwidth, often maxing it out. It's like being continually DDOS'd

Amusing myself at work by pretending to be AI. When someone asks me something, I tell them it’s a brilliant question and then give them an answer that’s 40% wrong.

Like, if tech companies want people to say "AI is very clever and works!" they should stop forcing versions that aren't and don't on people who don't work in tech, sorry

This is true and also, increasingly, I am less and less understanding of a public that indulges these lies - because what is meant by illegal in too many minds is "inhuman". And that belief is encouraged by the media, yes, but at some point citizens have to take responsibility for it too.

I save up so that, three times a year, I can buy a more expensive fountain pen (which, for me, means something in the £100-£200 range). I currently have a shortlist of ten, which isn't very helpful.

In Torridge, we have a seven (7) bin system (well, 7 receptacles, only one of which is actually a bin): paper; cardboard; glass; food waste; garden waste; other recycling; non-recyclable. In a small house, you have to be quite inventive about where you store them.
