It was a bright spot in my day, too!

Here's a thread about how trans people can approach remaining informed of the news in a way that prioritizes pragmatism, self-care, and building resistance.

It's based on what I'm doing personally. So, fyi, I'm more anxious than usual, but holding up substantially.

Carter's camping this weekend, so I'll be dropping into Con on Saturday. I can't wait! I've been missing you all something fierce.

I'm not dead, folks! I'm just trying to get past the first-trimester queasiness that makes even thinking of food a gamble.

Crochet and period romances help.

I don't just mean in the fight, I mean also in the quiet times where moments of joy and compassion are absolutely needed for us to rest and recharge.

Our survival as we enter another dark chapter is entrenched in the strength of our community.

They will try to break us apart and isolate us, scaring us into obedience and/or complacency. We cannot let them. We must organize and find our roles in supporting each other.

With the little one on the way, I may not have all my power at my disposal currently. But friends, my comrades in love and weirdness, I am here for you.

Yup, bought some patterns off of Etsy and praying to Athena that I don’t duck these up!

So I’m playing a selkie in a 1920s Dresden Files LARP in March. Working on my sea snail shell purse today.

And the butternut squash and fennel gratin is baked. Smells amazing, and I think that cheese, breadcrumb, and pistachio crust will keep it from leaking in transit.

Fingers crossed, anyway!

Doing some Thanksgiving cooking tonight. Dad wanted to try recipes from this issue of Southern Living. So I’m making the butternut squash and fennel gratin.

Quadrupled the garlic and onion.

Adding pistachios and likely some ground sage and sumac.

Yes, and yes. Though from Edmund’s perspective, years of sugar rationing would make you crave anything sweet. Maybe, also, he never had Turkish Delight before and what the witch conjured was what he thought Turkish Delight would taste like.

…I might need to develop a recipe of off the latter idea.

Technically it’s all caramelized. Culinary definitions though refer to the low and slow cooked onion (45 min to 2 hours) as caramelized where it cooks down sweet and almost paste-like. Faster, higher heat methods that keep the onion intact is called browned.

I know, right? The majority of costumed guests plus the live music and engaged crowds made me actually feel like I was in a fantasy village. Loved it!

Went to Georgia’s Ren Fest Fall Fling as a ranger and came back a jackelope. I hope they continue to do this event. The taverns lit up at night gave a level of immersion I don’t think I’ve felt anywhere else.

I scroll my feed and there's a consistent kindness and creativity here I haven't seen in a long time. It's a nice feeling, and I treasure it.
