06.02.2026 00:54 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Almost done slogging through Lewis Carrollβs final and worst work, the βSylvie and Brunoβ books. He was working on them for over 10 years?!! This is why you donβt put together every random thought youβve had for a decade into a super long book with no plot
06.02.2026 00:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Almost done drawing the Dreamlands city of Bombasharna. Just need to do the cartouche
06.02.2026 00:42 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'd debate with you, but frankly I think you're a propaganda account. Your timeline has 0 personal info, a ton of performative lib politics to establish you're a Bluesky liberal that people should talk to, and then a bunch of anti Palestinian stuff. Anyway, no progressive should support Israel, bye
05.02.2026 20:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0New SFF Audio podcast just dropped, featuring discussions of two great classic fantasy stories: Robert E Howard's "The Tower of the Elephant" and Clark Ashton Smith's "The Tale of Satampra Zeiros"! 03.02.2026 21:33 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!" I think that's the proper form...
03.02.2026 21:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Absolutely. Only the dead can't disappoint one (unless a secret racist poem or something is revealed)
03.02.2026 20:55 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0John Tenniel's famous illustration of the Jabberwocky for "Through the Looking Glass". Lewis Carroll knew this one was a hit, and considered using it as the cover; however he also worried it'd be too scary for kids and should be removed entirely. In the end he took the middle ground and kept it in

03.02.2026 20:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0(But, I know lots of other folks I respect liked it!! No shame)
03.02.2026 19:59 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I agree with this (won't name the author I'm thinking about but given the timing it's pretty obvious) and simultaneously I am so happy I always disliked Harry Potter
03.02.2026 19:58 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 4 π 0I've been digging thru old books, but at some point I need to look at recent (like in the last 30 years, to me π€ͺ) YA/kids' fantasy isekai novels to see which ones are Dreamland like. I know there's literally series out there set in Dreams, and I've got to read them! But there's just so much stuff!

02.02.2026 23:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What? We're still outraged.
02.02.2026 23:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Reading the "Alice in Wonderland" books: it's clear these are written for younger children than most kids' fantasies of the time (like "Water Babies"), and written knowing they'd be heavily illustrated. The text is MUCH lighter than stuff like "Water Babies". This probably helped the book's lifespan
02.02.2026 23:32 β π 5 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Reread the "Alice in Wonderland" books. One thing about them is, they both have nice endings. Not that they 'resolve' anything, but they go out on an interesting note: nostalgia for childhood in "Alice" 1, and questioning reality in "Through the Looking Glass" (Alice 2)
02.02.2026 22:29 β π 4 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Perfect!!
02.02.2026 16:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1One player (Alice), the others are GMs/Wonderlanders inflicting one thing after another on her. π Or a one-on-one game, of course.
