On a non-political note, I'm convinced Emily Dickinson was heavily influenced by Cavalier poets, which may seem surprising. But those abstract, capitalized nouns re-appear in her work, albeit in a much more powerful & original form. And the 4-beat/3-beat meter.

Right now, it seems a good moment to recall the famous last stanza of Sir Richard Lovelace's poem, "To Althea: From Prison."

Lovelace may have been a royalist, but his poem speaks to the a spirit of defiance in all those who oppose tyranny and injustice, whether crowned or empty-headed.
