Trump-voting couple says they regret their vote after being stopped by Border Patrol
YouTube video by NBC News Trump-voting couple says they regret their vote after being stopped by Border Patrol

It is incredibly easy to sneer and jeer at trump voters who now regret their vote now that something bad happened to **them** β€” because or likely because of trump β€” but this man is talking here about the β€œshame” and β€œguilt” he feels so I don’t think people who are…

Phenomenal stuff from Beto.

No problem!

Didn't want anyone dinging you on that detail, as your point still stands. That couple's doing fine, but they aren't rich.

$8K/month = $96K/year, implying $104K in taxes, and they're definitely not paying anywhere near 52% all-in.

Yep. I'm a born and bred Brooklynite who works in finance (not tax, to be clear) who also works and pays taxes here. It gets complicated based on whether they're self-employed, are married filing jointly, etc., but their all-in effective rate (Fed, state, local, FICA, etc.) is going to be ~28-35%.

I'm pretty sure take-home pay would be more like $11,500-$12,000 per month for two people with collective annual salaries of $200K in NYC, but the point stands.

Every time Cuomo opens his mouth he makes it clearer and clearer how much of a non-resident he is.

Crazy thought...

Subscriptions.

Y'know, actually paying for a service we use like we did in the beforetimes. I'd fork over a few dollars a month to keep using a Nazi-free microblogging site, and I imagine more than a few others would as well.

Love me some Pritzker.

Can someone tell me how/where the "Great Khan" meme originated?

...live their authentic lives. The reality of the trans sport athlete isn't the musclebound cis guy in a wig from the R ads last year; it's generally a fem (and let's be clear, the issue is about those born male transitioning to female) person just wanting to participate.

I hear you, and that's part of why the argument is hard to combat.

I don't know how to couch this in the best terms for a debate, but the other, more important point is that no one transitions to win a game. Or to enter a bathroom. For the most part, trans folks want nothing more than to... 1/2

The best argument I've heard to date is, "Well, I feel like Shaq shouldn't have been able to play because he was so much bigger and stronger than everyone else."

Understood. I dunno. To me, he codes as Mamdani, but built for TX. We'll see, I guess.

So, wait, is this a list of Sen races you expect Dems to win... or to flip? (Because obviously, Ossoff, is the incumbent here.)

Yeah... there's *some* truth to this. But we've had FDR, then, to a certain extent, LBJ, and then, after Reagan won, no Dem ever wanted to try anything that would even remotely upset the wealthiest. Let's see what happens when we return to our ideological roots.
