I arrived in North Texas just before KING OF THE HILL began, yet never watched the show for unfathomable reasons. This brilliant article made me realize what I’d been missing, so I immediately began watching. I’m grateful, MZS. Now my belly is filled with beer, and I’m craving German-Japanese BBQ.

Too many examples to list, but the big one for me was Mickey Rourke's six minutes as the arsonist in Body Heat.

the first episode of the new season of King of the Hill felt like slipping into a nice warm bath. I need to know where Bobby lives and where his restaurant is -- surely not near SMU??

*King of the Hill* Makes Its Triumphant Return With Bobby running a restaurant in Dallas and dating an SMU coed, the most Dallas show ever gets even more Dallas on August 4.

Incredibly, despite having written about television for 30 years, I have never written an entire piece about King of the Hill. I rectified that here. Special emphasis is given to the Dallas connections. www.dmagazine.com/arts-enterta...

β€œClint” Highlights the Artistic Modernity of an Old-School Man Shawn Levy’s biography of Clint Eastwood explores revelatory connections between the filmmaker’s methods and his deep-rooted world view.

Greatly enjoyed Shawn Levy's new biography of Clint Eastwood; its many keen observations are framed expressively, and it's shaped with subtle originality, conjuring a vivid sense of relentless activity, spontaneity, and contingency:Β

Fantasia Festival | Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy An ordinary office worker sees his apocalyptic manwha become reality before his very eyes. This spectacular fantasy action film delivers a disaster story…

OMNISCIENT READER: THE PROPHECY looks like another South Korean fantasy that overdoes on digital FX - and it is - but it’s pretty clever, well-paced and quite entertaining. Glad to say it exceeds expectations.

Another great @fantasiafestival.com screening, too. Audience ate it up.

If you're wondering what three I left out, they're Lenny (okay but doesn't hold up especially well), Bound for Glory (fine but wouldn't have been my pick), and The Towering Inferno (lololol for all eternity but also, I would happily sit down and watch it tonight).

As far as I can tell, 100% of the scoops published by The Daily Planet were procured in a way that violates standard journalistic ethics from the methods of the information gathering and conflicts of interest to the lack of disclosures 😌

Review | The Sandman season 2 volume 2: premature end to a terrific adaptation The final five episodes of the fantasy series are forced to leave out a lot from Neil Gaiman’s comic book series, but are still thrilling.

THE SANDMAN Season 2 might be a little rushed, squashed & condensed, but what we get is still pretty great, and at the very least serves as an excellent primer for anyone interested in diving in to the excellent source material. The last five episodes are on Netflix now. www.scmp.com/lifestyle/en...

Filmed in Mexico. Music by Ennio Morricone (?!). BTW, Shirley gets top billing in the movie itself, but not on the poster.

... and so I always remembered it as a sleepy snoozer. Available streaming on #PrimeVideo for another 13 days, it's a sparkling two-hander and anything but a snoozer, right up until it transforms into something more rebellious in Act III, complete with an awesome concluding battle sequence.

a man in a superman costume is flying over a city ALT: a man in a superman costume is flying over a city

SUPERMAN is unlike any Superman film before it & one of the most comic booky superhero movies ever. Funny, romantic, wacky, eccentric, and packed with sociopolitical commentary, it will likely blindside and bemuse many moviegoers. It took me the entire runtime to be certain, but I kinda loved it.
