I’ve been thinking a lot recently about why I’m excited about the new approach to DC that is shown in Superman, and I think it’s that it feels like a place now to make IP-based movies that can balance populist studio-agenda choices with artistic voice and a biggish dose of against-the-grain funk.

Watched the first season of The Terror, and it’s exceptional. Much much better than I expected. I feel bad for waiting so long to watch it!

I would pay extra for a deluxe edition of the new Clipse album if it removed the “this is culturally inappropriate” voice from all the tracks.

This is exactly my complaint about excessively data-driven product development. When you're hyper-focused on optimizing individual metrics in isolation, it's can blind you to bigger picture, qualitative issues.

I loved the new Superman!

We have those in some places, and the built-into-the-meter ones in others, and all of them are impossible to read. It’s like they were all designed in a dark room and no one thought they would mostly be used in sunlight on the streets.

The switch of parking meters from coin-operated to credit-card readers also threw away almost everything that was good in their visual design and user interface. Why did we have to entirely throw away legibility (from both close and distant) when adding credit card functionality?

There’s an ad for AI that I must have seen a dozen times on this trip to the UK. A guy messes up his pasta sauce recipe and asks AI for help. AI gives him a cookie recipe. This is supposed to be a good thing.

I went into 28 YEARS LATER as unspoiled as possible, and I absolutely loved it. One of my fav films of the year, and I already know I’ll be revisiting it multiple times.

Is this the one we wanted to do together? I still think we can bring it back to life at some point!
