Oh, naturally! I’m the last person needing convincing that “opera is cool.” 😎 I meant more like “it’s sometimes easy for me to overlook Bohème as ‘over-familiar’, but then I listen again and remember that it’s a classic for good reason.”

The other teens around me that summer - incidentally - shook their heads and said, “nah, I’d rather listen to Gorillaz or Rent. What’s your deal, Matt?” To each their own. 🙂

Splurged on an orchestra-level seat for La Bohème at (@azopera.org) Saturday. I have this notion that I’m “too cool” for La Bohème, but no, that’s not really true. I listen and instantly remember hearing the 73’ Freni/Pavarotti/Karajan recording way back in 2001 when I was first getting into opera.

I run a regular Dungeons and Dragons campaign at a friend’s house. Luna, their cat, is the least aloof cat I’ve ever met, and enjoys head butting me, my computer, and the DM screen. #dungeonsanddragons #dnd #cat

Here is my latest take. It's *screamingly* irrelevant, but unique: I put it to you that - in the 1948 MGM musical "Luxury Liner" - opera singer Lauritz Melchior here is channeling some real "TV's Frank from MST3K" energy with his haircut. I suspect time-travel nonsense. @frankconniff.bsky.social

I've been on a big #watteau kick lately. The first image is my in-progress mixed-media transcription (started as a watercolor monotype), and the second image is a photo reproduction of "La Perspective" (c. 1715). (Yeah, I printed the monotype at a jaunty angle).
