Thank you, @trashcatlit.bsky.social, for nominating my weird little flash fiction story for the Genrepunk Awards! This is my first award nomination, and I am truly humbled.

From our latest issue 🦝
We had to have both of @sophia-adamowicz.bsky.social submissions!

In Wixton Fen, we loved the contrast of modern eco-ignorance and ancient vengeful desire - the two voices perfect. The pace builds to the chilling conclusion wonderfully.

Fair Game was started in a TCL writealong - from a blind-chosen set of prompts - and we loved where @sophia-adamowicz.bsky.social took those. The voice is superb and the quiet, building dread is divine.

A moodboard with a cave in the background, eight pictures and a title in the middle: The Brink, a folk horror. Beginning in the twelve o' clock position, the pictures show a bawdy interaction at a seventeenth-century inn, a woodcut of a devil offering a cup to a figure in bed, an underground cavern, a man screaming, a cave system, the entrance to a deep pothole, a rotting sheep and a hillside in the Peak District.

My two pence on the Salt Path scandal: the passages on the natural world were often beautiful, but I was disturbed by the anti-medical bias running through the narrative. As someone who's struggled with depression and anxiety, I've heard plenty of bullshit on the miraculous healing powers of nature.
